Where the attention is going — not who rose the most

How this list is built

This is not a list of the biggest risers. That list is dominated by small, thinly traded shares that moved 40% on no news at all — exactly the wrong starting point for someone who is just beginning. Instead we measure whether attention for a company is unusually high compared with its own normal, whether several independent sources are writing about it, and whether real money is involved.

The weighting

  • 30%More coverage than usual
  • 20%Independent sources
  • 25%Volume vs its own average
  • 15%Price move (either direction)
  • 10%How recent the news is

Price movement counts on magnitude, not direction: a 6% fall is as newsworthy as a 6% rise. Duplicate reports about the same story are merged first, so the same press release five times does not count five times.

What does not get in

  • · Shares below 1 each.
  • · Shares with less than 2M in average daily turnover.
  • · Companies with fewer than 2 independent sources.
3 companies were looked at but did not make it
  • UNA.AS — fewer than 2 independent sources
  • META — fewer than 2 independent sources
  • COST — fewer than 2 independent sources

A score is not a recommendation and says nothing about the future. A high score only means there is a lot going on around this company right now.
